About the role
Overview
The Human Resources Specialist is a member of the Human Resources team reporting to the Director, Human Resources – Candu Engineering. This unique Human Resources role will be primary point of contact for the Engineering function on all matters related to resource management including data analytics. You will collaborate with Engineering function to facilitate talent acquisition, professional development of staff, skills competency management, and succession planning. You will work in collaboration with the HRBPs and Labour Relations to drive and consult with the business on resourcing-related matters through the management of key client relationships. Establish a partnership with the Engineering leadership team to meet business objectives and more specifically planning and resource development.
Your role
- Support Engineering Directors and Managers forecast and plan their talent pipeline to build 'bench strength'.
- Facilitate competency gap analyses and support the professional development of staff.
- Responsible for data analytics for the Engineering function related to recruitment, staffing assignments and performance metrics.
- Manage and maintain internal resourcing databases for the Engineering function
- Chair Hiring Committee meetings.
- Manage the Candu Co-op and Student Program
- Interface and collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Project Delivery, Human Resources, and Talent Acquisition
- Leverage knowledge of HR policies and talent management practices to identify data-driven opportunities that add business value.
- Facilitate a strong leadership and coaching culture.
- Other projects as assigned
About you
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Management, or a related field; minimum 5 years' experience in a unionized engineering environment is an asset.
- Strong skills in Power BI are required; experience with Workday and DAX is considered an asset.
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and the ability to handle competing priorities in a dynamic, matrixed environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with strong relationship-building and influencing capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead through change, take initiative, and confidently offer direction and insight.
- Committed to delivering a value-added experience through effective stakeholder engagement and HR partnership.
