Reporting to the Dean, Faculty of Animation, Arts, and Design (FAAD), the Special Projects Manager facilitates the execution of student-experience enhancing activities that occur outside the classroom and operate in partnership with industry and/or community stakeholders.
FAAD receives many inquiries from industry partners, community groups, and donors about project collaborations that involve our students, faculty, and staff. A vetting process helps to ensure that proposed projects are feasible, beneficial to students, supports FAAD's goals, and are financially sound. The Special Projects Manager will serve as the primary coordinator for industry and donor-supported initiatives that pass this vetting process and enhance learning experiences for FAAD students and/or our surrounding community. This role is designed to manage unique, high-impact projects that involve external partnerships and cross-departmental collaboration.

What You’ll Be Doing
Project Coordination

• Leading and managing a portfolio of high-impact initiatives from inception through completion, ensuring that each project aligns with the strategic goals of the Faculty of Animation, Arts, & Design (FAAD).
• Overseeing planning, timelines, deliverables, and risk mitigation while coordinating internal teams and resources across Sheridan.
• Ensuring that all activities progress smoothly and achieve the intended academic, creative, and community-focused outcomes.

Partnership Management

• Serving as the primary liaison for all external partnerships related to supported initiatives, maintaining strong and professional relationships with industry organizations, donors, cultural institutions, and community partners.
• Ensuring consistent communication, managing expectations, and facilitates collaboration between FAAD and external stakeholders.
• Helping to strengthen partnerships that enhance student learning, elevate Sheridan’s profile, and support long-term engagement.

Opportunity Development & Research

• Identifying and evaluating potential partnership opportunities that support FAAD’s mission and strategic priorities.
• Researching industry, donor, and community organizations; assessing alignment with faculty goals; and preparing recommendations and proposals for new collaborative projects.
• Monitoring sector trends and emerging opportunities to ensure FAAD remains positioned as a leader in creative innovation across arts, design, media, and animation.

Budget Oversight

• Monitoring financial aspects of each initiative working with FAAD’s Finance Manager, ensuring responsible use of resources throughout a project’s lifecycle.
• Tracking budgets and expenditures, maintaining accurate financial documentation, and preparing timely updates or reports as required.
• Upholding transparency and accountability, ensuring that all projects are financially sound and compliant with institutional processes.

Communications & Impact Tracking

• Capturing and communicating the outcomes and successes of FAAD’s special projects, creating compelling narratives that support internal reporting, donor stewardship, and external storytelling.
• Gathering qualitative and quantitative data from project activities, such as student participation, partner engagement and measurable results

About You

You bring experience collaborating across an ecosystem that includes internal/external stakeholders, service providers, government agencies and others.

You have sound understanding of project management principles and tools and have the ability to multi-task, prioritize, balance and manage multiple complex and competing demands.

You are a skilled facilitator who is able to create an inclusive and experiential learning environment and is able to support learning by providing hands-on activities and experiences that illustrate new concepts.

You are skilled at supporting student changemakers and entrepreneurs from equity-deserving communities.

You bring an entrepreneurial spirit who is able to contribute both ideas and thoughtful execution to a growing organization.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:

• 4-year bachelor’s degree in media, art or design.
• 5-years demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-phase projects; coordinating timelines, deliverables and stakeholder requirements. (equivalencies to be considered)
• Must have a strong understanding of the creative and cultural sectors along with experience supporting collaborative initiatives.
• Experience with event management, project management, communications and media, design or creative industries is desired
• Experience working in Education Institutes is an asset.
