Job Description As a Big Data Cloud Developer, you will be part of a global core team based in Montreal and Paris, with multiple responsibilities related to our data lake platform on Microsoft Azure. As a member of the team, you will be the main point of contact for projects in the AMER region, working with teams using the platform for various business lines.

This data lake platform uses various open-source technologies, such as Spark and Kafka, but also relies on Azure-specific technologies, such as Azure Storage, HDInsight, Synapse, Fabric, AKS, etc.

The platform is self-service, with as much automation as possible, with high security requirements due to our regulated environment, while keeping in mind stability for critical business processes.

You will participate in designing the evolution of the platform and the transformation of projects, as well as implementation and production support. You will also provide your expertise for the integration of projects on the platform.

Your Big Data skills are as important as your Azure skills in this context, as well as a good understanding of performance and security concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Identify future needs and improvements, design solutions to be validated with the rest of the team;
  • Test and evaluate new Azure technologies, working with the security team and Microsoft teams to make them available in our secure environment;
  • Participate in the implementation of the solution, build automation and monitoring for a stable self-service offering;
  • Provide training on the state of the art in data;
  • Help data project teams integrate and transform on/into Azure;
  • Train other team members and advise other teams on the implementation of their Big Data projects;
  • Participate in production support, with overtime if necessary, and communicate incidents to our AMER users.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in development and architecture with Java, building multi-threaded applications and APIs.
  • Extensive experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Kafka, and/or Azure Kubernetes Service, and OpenTable formats such as Delta or Iceberg.
  • Good experience with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies, such as Azure Storage, Azure Synapse, and Azure AI search.
  • Good experience with Apache Spark.
  • Previous experience with Oracle SQL or PostgreSQL or a similar RDBMS background.
  • Good practical knowledge of the following: Terraform, PowerShell/Bash.
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery using modern DevOps tools and workflows such as git, GitHub, Jira, Docker, and Jenkins.
  • Degree in computer science, DEC, or equivalent technical certifications

French and English are required. The ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, is a requirement as the person in this position will be required to collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners outside of Quebec.
