About the role
AltaSteel Inc. is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated 4th Year Millwright Apprentice to gain hands-on experience in steel manufacturing. This role is ideal for someone safety-minded, eager to learn, and ready to build their career in a fast-paced industrial environment.
As a Millwright Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced Journeypersons and plant engineers, supporting preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preventative maintenance and repair of pumps, seals, motors, conveyors, and other industrial equipment.
- Work with Journeypersons, engineers, and operational staff to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Learn to interpret drawings, plans and determine best way of making machining repairs to minimize interruption to production.
- Perform routine inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential failures before they impact production.
- Document maintenance activities and update records in computerized maintenance systems.
- Support assembly, fitting, alignment, and adjustment of machinery and equipment.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and ensure proper housekeeping in work areas.
Qualifications & Skills
- Registered 4th Year Millwright Apprentice (Alberta Apprenticeship Program).
- Previous experience in a plant or industrial environment is an asset.
- Strong safety mindset and willingness to follow procedures.
- Eager to learn, take on new challenges, and grow into a Journeyperson role.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
- Basic computer literacy.
