Director, Loyalty Strategy & Business Development Whether shopping for your favorite foods, daily essentials, or little indulgences, the PC Optimum loyalty program helps Canadians live life well by delivering unparalleled customer value and utility through personalized offers, rewards, and experiences. As part of the Loyalty team at Loblaw, you will be part of a group that drives the future direction of Canada's largest and most loved loyalty program.
As the Director of Loyalty Strategy & Business Development , you will be part of the team that uncovers new opportunities, builds lasting partnerships, and guides the overall direction for the PC Optimum program. You will play a leadership role in developing and executing our overall program strategy, leading annual and strategic planning, and enhancing the program through new strategic partnerships. Reporting to the VP Loyalty Portfolio Management, you'll bring a passion for staying on top of the latest market and customer trends, and a proven ability to turn new partnership ideas into reality through strategic thinking, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration. This role balances broad program strategy with direct responsibility for building and growing partnerships for PC Optimum, with the over-arching objective of enhancing the member experience for the millions of Canadians we serve
What You’ll Do
- Drive the development of overall program strategy, identifying key growth areas and competitive differentiation
- Lead the annual and long-term strategic planning processes for the PC Optimum program, translating vision into actionable roadmaps and key initiatives
- Prepare and deliver compelling program and business updates to senior executives, articulating strategic direction, performance, and key initiatives
- Define the business development strategy for PC Optimum partnerships, including the customer and business model for each prospective partner
- Conduct strategic discussions with prospective loyalty partners to identify mutually beneficial business opportunities.
- Lead financial modelling, business case development, market / competitive research, and related presentations for evaluating partnership candidates and for securing approval for funding, including presentations to senior executives
- Lead negotiations with existing and potential partners to maximize the success of strategic partnerships
- Build relationships with current partners and industry participants, as well as strengthen pipeline of new partners through proactive business development activities and initiatives
Does this sound like you?
- Hands-on experience. 5-7 years of relevant experience in strategic partnerships or business development, management consulting, strategy, or equivalent. Experience in grocery or drug retail is a plus.
- Loyalty expert. You have a deep understanding of how loyalty programs create value for the business while delighting customers
- Advanced communication and presentation skills. You will often be called upon to present your findings and recommendations to groups of varying sizes and seniority
- Self-starter. You can demonstrate strong initiative and willingness to take ownership and learn
- Exceptional strategy skillset. You can lead financial analysis, storytelling and presentation building, and develop financial business cases to provide recommendations and highlight financial implications
- Comfort thinking critically, including about ambiguous problems. As a key member of the team responsible for Loblaw's loyalty strategy, you will be tasked with solving challenging and ambiguous problems.
- Ability to collaborate with and influence internal and external stakeholders. You'll build strong cross-functional relationships and use your networking and negotiation skills to bring in new partnerships
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing or business-related field is required; MBA preferred.
Please note: This role is based at 500 Lakeshore Blvd West. Regular travel across GTA offices is required.
