- Qualified applicants will be required to teach in the traditional areas of Mechanical Engineering, as well as program specialty areas based on current program needs.
- Ability to teach in other program areas is an asset.
- Manage his/her classroom/lab/activities to ensure an optimum learning environment for students.
- Follow any academic regulations and/or policies adopted by SaskPolytech and/or Saskatoon Campus.
- Accommodate students with special learning needs.
- Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with industry and educational requirements.
- Practice good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Work cooperatively with program heads and colleagues in an interdependent “team” environment.
- Prepare and use appropriate delivery methods for instructing courses as assigned.
- Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress.
- Make necessary curriculum adjustments to course content.
- Attend staff, program and division meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
Specific Accountabilities
Duties
Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience and a Diploma in Design and Manufacturing Engineering Technology or CAD/CAM Engineering Technology.
- Member of/or eligible for certification with APEGS as a P.Eng or with SASTT as an A.Sc.T.
- Recent/relevant experience (two years in the last five).
- In addition to the traditional areas of Mechanical Engineering, program specialties require significant knowledge and experience in at least 3 of the following 7 specialty areas:
a. CAD (AutoCAD and Inventor) and Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing
b. CAM and CNC Machining
c. Computer Systems, Networking, System Administration and Programming
d. Mechanical Design / Analysis / Integrated Design Tools
e. Manufacturing, Production Management, Quality Systems and Lean
f. Mechatronic Systems, Data acquisition and control, Microcontrollers (Arduino/Raspberry Pi)
g. Robotic Welding and Automation
