About Us
The Lands and Mineral Tenure Branch, within the Ministry of Energy and Resources, manages distinct programs related to the development of the oil and gas, and mineral sectors. The Oil and Gas Tenure Unit is responsible for the administration of oil and gas tenure on Crown mineral lands within the Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS).
The Opportunity
The Lands and Mineral Tenure Branch is seeking a passionate, results-oriented individual with high emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills to join our team as the Manager and Administrator of the Oil and Gas Tenure Unit. Reporting to the Director of Tenure, you will lead and supervise staff, develop regulations and policies, and ensure that applications are reviewed in a timely manner all while interacting on a daily basis with clients.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will work independently as well as lead and supervise staff in planning, management, implementation, and support of oil and gas tenure on Crown mineral lands. Also, must be positive, energetic, proactive, hardworking individual who thrives in a complex, quick changing in an innovative environment.
Will have knowledge of:
- Oil and gas industry;
- Government structures, processes, and policies;
- Dominion Land Survey System; and,
- Proficiency in use of software programs and systems such as Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, GeoATLAS (or equivalent software), and IRIS.
Will have the demonstrated ability to:
- Build organizational community by promoting a diverse, friendly, and respectful environment conducive to employees’ sense of belonging, while using strategies to promote team morale and productivity;
- Take personal responsibility for fulfilling own commitments and the commitments of the team;
- Understand organizational systems that will contribute to the creation, revision or improvement of those processes and related policies;
- Clearly communicate, both written and verbal, so that messages are understood and consistent, adapting messages to the specific interest, needs and level of the audience also while skillfully handling complex, on-the-spot questions from others;
- Manage team work plans, performance goals, and plans for the future; and,
- Leadership while maintaining high personal integrity, development and growth, and a commitment to excellence.
Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required to be successful in this position would have been obtained through:
- Relevant education, training and experience in the land management industry;
- The completion of an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate in administration or geology; or,
- Equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.
