We are seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Parts Purchaser to support our fleet and equipment operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing parts inventory to ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently and without delay. This role requires strong vendor management, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities.
Key Information:
-Hours: Based on a 40-hour work week (8 hours a day, Monday - Friday). Overtime as required. -Hourly rate is dependent on experience. -Health benefits and vacation pay offered.
Job Description:
- Source and purchase parts, materials, and supplies for vehicles, heavy equipment, and small tools.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, warranty terms, and cost‑saving opportunities with vendors.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure reliability, consistency, and competitive pricing.
- Verify part numbers, specifications, and compatibility using OEM manuals and technical documentation.
- Work closely with mechanics, technicians, and supervisors to identify and fulfill parts requirements.
- Prioritize urgent or critical repairs by expediting high‑priority purchases.
- Support scheduled maintenance by ensuring parts availability ahead of planned work.
- Create, track, and manage purchase orders and work with AP to resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of pricing, purchase history, and vendor information.
- Support budgeting and cost‑tracking efforts by monitoring spend in designated categories.
- Update asset management or maintenance software with accurate part numbers, pricing, and inventory levels.
- Coordinate shipping, delivery schedules, and courier pickups.
- Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality; resolve issues with suppliers.
- Manage backorders, delays, and supply chain challenges to minimize downtime.
Experience and Certification Requirements:
- Previous experience in parts procurement, inventory, or as a Parts Technician is required.
- Having strong working knowledge of various computer systems; Word, Excel, Internal Database system, and Google platform would be a benefit.
- Strong understanding of heavy-duty equipment and automotive parts.
- You have strong communication/negotiation skills.
- You have a safety conscious attitude and able to work with others in a team.
- You are outgoing and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Proficient English language skills required.
- A reliable means of transportation is required.
**Education:**Completion of high school or equivalent is required.
