The Role of HR & Employment Relations Advisor
Are you ready to take the next step in your HR career? We're looking for an HR professional to deliver commercially focused advice over the phone to BrightHR clients who have access to our 24/7 HR support service. If you hold an HR qualification and have some experience in the field, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your expertise and advance your career. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of employment legislation and a strong commitment to providing exceptional client service. This is a office based role. This is an existing vacancy. The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $85,000, depending on experience.
Day-to-Day Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level, solution-focused HR and employment legislation advice to clients through phone and virtual consultations, managing complex and sensitive matters such as performance issues, workplace violence and harassment, investigations, and terminations.
- Handle high-risk files with strong judgement and autonomy, taking full ownership of cases from initial inquiry through to final resolution while maintaining exceptional client care.
- Strengthen client retention by proactively identifying needs and positioning BrightHR products and services as strategic, value-added solutions that support compliance and reduce risk.
- Recognize and qualify opportunities for upselling additional services, including customized documentation, health and safety support, or enhanced advisory offerings, based on client needs and compliance gaps.
- Draft, review, and refine employment documentation in accordance with BrightHR standards and applicable legislative requirements.
- Direct clients to appropriate BrightBase (document library) resources to reinforce advice and promote understanding of HR best practices and legislative obligations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance standards when handling client information, ensuring alignment with BrightHR policies and all relevant legislation.
- Record all advice and interactions in Salesforce with a high level of detail, accuracy, and clarity to ensure audit readiness and consistent case management.
- Meet or exceed KPIs and SLAs by managing call volume effectively and delivering high-quality, legally compliant, and practical advice with a focus on first-call resolution.
- Proactively seek and encourage client feedback through multiple channels to support continuous improvement and strengthen BrightHR's online reputation.
- Collaborate closely with software support, client care, documentation, legal, sales, and other internal teams to provide seamless service and address cross-functional client needs.
- Identify trends, recurring issues, or emerging risks across client inquiries and share insights with management to support improvements to internal processes, training, and resources.
- Maintain advanced, up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices, acting as a subject-matter resource for the advisory team.
- Contribute to content creation, including training materials, legislative updates, team communications, webinars, and article reviews, supporting continuous knowledge development across the business.
- Provide informal mentorship and guidance to junior advisors by assisting with complex cases, interpreting legislation, and reinforcing best-practice standards.
What you Bring to the Team
- CHRP designation strongly preferred; applicants actively working toward certification will also be considered
- 5+ years of relevant experience preferred, however candidates with strong capability, demonstrated impact, and readiness to operate at this level are encouraged to apply
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast paced, target driven environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service focus
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and organize workload efficiently
- Self-motivated and highly organized self-starter, able to work independently while positively motivating and collaborating with colleagues to deliver exceptional service
- Previous experience in a KPI or target driven environment is highly desirable, ideally within a shared service centre or client-facing rol
- Strong problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset, able to provide practical, solution-focused advice
- Comfortable using CRM systems such as Salesforce and other digital tools to manage client interactions and accurately record data
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with HR legislation and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to handle a consistent volume of client inquiries (typically 20–30 calls per day) while maintaining high service standards
- Flexibility to adjust work hours occasionally to support team coverage needs during planned or unplanned absences
