The Director, EPMO leads the development and implementation of effective portfolio and project management practices that support IMCO’s strategic and corporate business plans. This role is responsible for guiding the selection, optimization, prioritization, and execution of enterprise program management initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. The Director manages a team of Project Managers, providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and professional development to maintain a high-performing function. Additionally, the Director owns the IMCO Project Framework (IP), ensuring its consistent application and adherence to approved governance standards across all projects, and oversees the delivery of skilled portfolio and project management services to drive successful outcomes for the organization.
As a Member of Our Team, Your Responsibilities Will Include: Project Management
- Manage and support a team of Project Managers, providing performance feedback, guidance, and expertise to ensure role competency.
- Establish and lead talent development initiatives, including mentoring, coaching, and succession planning, to maintain a robust pipeline of project management talent.
- Design and implement structured onboarding and ongoing training programs for Project Managers, including support for professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile).
- Oversee resource allocation and capacity planning across all projects to ensure optimal workload distribution and timely achievement of objective.
Portfolio and Project Governance
- Oversee IMCO’s project portfolio, facilitating project prioritization and alignment with strategic and corporate business plans.
- Participate in governance review processes and meetings (e.g., portfolio/project steering committees); support the newly formed Enterprise Working Group (EWG) to support their Design and Portfolio governance mandates
- Lead the development and implementation of portfolio and project management practices and standards to support effective project delivery.
- Develop and utilize monitoring frameworks, including relevant KPIs and processes, to ensure successful execution of IMCO’s strategy and financial plan.
- Establish operational standards and performance expectations to deliver value-added services and achieve high customer satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain regular portfolio performance reporting, including dashboards and analytics, to provide executive leadership and stakeholders with clear visibility into project health and progress.
- Provide business consulting and analysis to support the development of effective solutions, integration of strategic plans with corporate initiatives, and business case development in collaboration with senior management.
- Foster effective communication and working relationships across the organization, customer groups, and strategic vendor partners to identify needs, resolve issues, and exchange information.
- Proactively plan, track, and monitor portfolio budgets and risks in collaboration with internal stakeholders and the enterprise risk management function; advise management of potential risks and impacts, and provide recommendations as needed.
- Ensure risk management, quality management, and continuous improvement systems are in place to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and cost-benefit of the project and program portfolio.
- Contribute to the ongoing maturity and development of the EPMO.
- Develop and execute formal stakeholder engagement and communication plans, including feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement and enhance organizational buy-in.
What You Need to Succeed:

At a Financial Services organization, preferably Pension, Asset Management or Capital Markets.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) or senior project portfolio leadership role.

Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Project Manager, leading complex, cross-functional projects.

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, information technology, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, PgMP) strongly preferred.

Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills, including the ability to resolve conflicting priorities, resource issues, dependencies, and change requirements.

In-depth knowledge of portfolio and project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.

Proven experience in strategy formulation, planning, and overseeing the implementation of short- and long-term business objectives.

Strong ability to partner and collaborate with business and technical leaders across the organization, including engaging senior executives to drive alignment and action on escalation items.

Excellent judgment and broad understanding of the business environment and industry in which IMCO operates.

Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for project portfolios.

Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, facilitation, and active listening).

Ability to navigate competing priorities and drive alignment through organizational savvy and business acumen.

Experience in vendor management, including selection, negotiation, and performance oversight.
