Reporting to the Executive Assistant and Communications Officer, the Digital Communications Lead develops and delivers engaging video content, communications, and social media strategies that reflect the mission, vision, values, and brand of the Kenora Catholic District School Board (KCDSB), and its schools. This role supports marketing initiatives and provides communications guidance to schools and departments, including content creation and management, website and app updates, social media design and scheduling, caption writing, and platform monitoring.

ROLESANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Director's Department to support the development and execution of KCDSB's social media and community engagement strategy
  • Create and publish engagement social media content, including graphics, copy, video, and photography, aligned with KCDSB's brand
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with school communities
  • Attend internal and external events across various locations to capture multimedia content
  • Develop and manage a content calendar with a monthly posting schedule across multiple platforms
  • Monitor social media channels, respond to community feedback, research trends, and apply insights to optimize engagement
  • Coordinate the collection of school news and updates from departments and schools for promotional use
  • Write, edit, and design a variety of communications materials including brochures, posters, newsletters, advertisements, and web content
  • Maintain and update the Board and school websites, as well as the custom app
  • Collaborate with IT services and departments to manage the internal SharePoint site for employee resources
  • Provide digital communications support to schools and departments, including campaign planning and execution
  • Design advertisements and coordinate medica placements for Board and school campaigns
  • Manage Good Analytics and local search optimization for KCDSB and its schools
  • Maintain a photo library of staff, students, and facilities for internal and media use
  • Act as a liaison between schools and media outlets to promote positive stories about Catholic Education
  • Draft and distribute news releases to highlight school events, programs, and achievements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Web Design, Digital Marketing, Journalism, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a related role; experience in a school board or public sector setting is an asset
  • Proficient in video production from concept to completion
  • Advanced knowledge of major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube)
  • Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and motion design tools such as After Effects and Premiere Pro (or willingness to pursue professional development)
  • Up to date with trends in video and social media advertising
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills in English
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with students and staff at all levels of the organization
  • Welcomes feedback and constructive input from staff and school leaders across the system, using it to strengthen communication strategies and support consistency across all schools
  • Detail oriented with proven project management abilities
  • Demonstrated judgment, discretion, and professionalism in internal and external interactions
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet competing deadlines
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively
  • Valid Driver's license and access to a vehicle required
  • Flexibility to work varied hours based on organizational needs
  • This in-person position follows regular Monday to Friday hours, with occasional evening or weekend commitments to support school and community events
