About the role

Elevation HR is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing organization in Grande Prairie seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its leadership team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys both strategic and operational responsibilities. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting department managers in meeting organizational goals related to financial performance and planning, while leading and supporting the finance team and removing roadblocks to ensure administrative functions are completed effectively. The Opportunity Reporting to the Senior Business Analyst, the Financial Controller brings expertise in financial reporting and internal controls to support the development of a more robust and comprehensive financial reporting structure. Key responsibilities include: Leading all accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger. Preparing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Assisting with annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. Developing meaningful financial reports and performance metrics for management. Providing financial analysis and recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions. Strengthening internal controls, financial processes, and reporting procedures. Working with external accounting professionals to complete year-end financial reporting. Monitoring departmental budgets and supporting leaders with financial planning and analysis. Managing cash flow and ensuring effective management of working capital. Maintaining fixed asset records and supporting fleet and equipment costing analysis. Overseeing finance-related software systems and supporting technology improvements. Leading, mentoring, and developing the finance team while promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess: CPA designation or be actively working toward completion. A minimum of five years of progressive accounting or finance management experience. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. Experience leading accounting teams and managing multiple finance functions. Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization. Experience within construction, industrial, transportation, manufacturing, or other multi-entity environments would be considered an asset. Why This Opportunity?
