REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT

WAGE RATE: $41.15 – $58.98

Reporting to the Manager Surgical Services, the responsibility of the registered nurse is the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, measures to adults and children during phase I and II recovery within the perianesthesia setting in Day Surgery and PACU.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required:

Ontario College of Nurses registration or eligibility Minimum 2 years PACU and acute care nursing experience within the past 5 years Broad surgical experience required in all subspecialties Successful completion of Post Anaesthetic Course within the last 3 years Physical Assessment Course or equivalent Coronary Care Certificate I or equivalent Current certification in: BCLS Venipucture to start an IV IV meds below the drip chamber PCA Epidural analgesia Demonstrated computer skills in MS Outlook and Cerner applications (Powerchart and Surginet) or equivalent Willingness to cross train and be scheduled in PACU Demonstrated computer skills in MS Outlook and Cerner applications (Powerchart and Surginet) or equivalent Willingness to cross train and be scheduled in PACU as required Excellent assessment skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals Excellent leadership, problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes

Preferred

Baccalaureate degree in nursing ACLS Care of CVP, endotracheal tubes/ventilated extubation of an endotracheal tube
