Environmental Lead Driller - Permanent, FT
Office Location: Fort St. John, BC. Candidate is expected to be able to work from our Fort St. John location and must have travel flexibility to conduct remote field / camp work
Pay Range: $35 to $45/hour. Compensation is based on experience, education, and overall suitability for the role. Our total compensation package includes overtime, extended health benefits with no cost sharing, vacation pay, and a bonus profit-share program.

The primary function of the Environmental Lead Driller is to ensure the safe and efficient execution of drilling investigations. The role works with SynergyAspen's field team, environmental consultants, and our clients to complete all scopes of work in a professional and efficient manner. The Environmental Lead Driller is a self-starter, able to work independently, and possess excellent troubleshooting and mechanical skills.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent levels of service to our internal and external clients in a professional manner.
- Operate and maintain drill rigs and all equipment (skid steers, trucks, trailers).
- Set up and operate drill rigs, auger equipment, and other in-situ testing equipment.
- Assist with the mobilization and demobilization of equipment in hard-to-access environments.
- Install ground water monitoring wells.
- Provide assistance to the field team as required.
- Complete Daily Field Tickets at the end of every workday.
- Review documents and permits as required for the job.
- Perform other shop functions as required.
- Maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
- Ensure specific health and safety requirements are met; and
- Other responsibilities and/or duties as may be assigned at the discretion of the supervisor.
Qualifications for Environmental Lead Driller
- 5+ years’ drilling or screw-pile experience with a preference given to candidates with environmental or geotechnical specialty.
- Experience in Northeast BC, related to remediation/reclamation/natural science is an asset.
- Have a valid Class 5 Drivers License in good standing (a Driver Abstract's will be required).
- A valid Class 3 Drivers License is an asset.
- Trailer endorsement or willingness to acquire.
- Must be physically capable of the role including lifting, kneeling, traversing remote landscapes and other related requirements.
- Experience and/or the ability to work in remote areas in varied weather conditions, including winter (-30C) and summer (+30C) conditions.
- Availability to work in camp locations and remote areas, generally in the Peace River Region.
- Positive attitude and related behaviors including a strong work ethic, ability to be proactive and self motivated.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability, experience with small equipment repair an asset.
- Ability to secure, tow, load and unload a trailer with a GVW up to 30,000 pounds.
