Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Team Lead, the QA Technician will support the Quality Process Management Team, by ensuring products meet the quality standards and food safety requirements of the Company and our Customers. The incumbent will proactively coordinate and follow the fundamentals of GMP, HACCP, BRC and other audit programs and provide leadership and support to plant employees. The QA Technician will support the implementation, monitoring and follow-up of Quality Assurance strategies and programs in all aspects of the production and sales process.

  • Support, monitor and maintain compliance to regulatory, customer, and company requirements and expectations.
  • Perform annual assessment of the HACCP System and participate in HACCP audits and Team meetings
  • Monitor and report compliance to the HACCP program prerequisites including sanitation, employee hygiene, pest control, allergens, chemicals, equipment and building maintenance, training, foreign material, and transportation.
  • Assist in Food Safety audits (e.g. 3rd Party audit, customer audit, CFIA, Vancouver Coastal Health) and mock recalls
  • Help develop and verify SOP’s, SSOP’s and Policies to optimize food quality, food safety, plant/equipment sanitation and production efficiency.
  • Ensure a safe food production environment via visual observation, micro sampling and environmental swabbing.
  • Assist in training personnel on Good Manufacturing Practice and HACCP Food Safety Requirements.
  • Perform comprehensive internal plant audits and provide recommendations for effective continuous improvement
  • Report on daily production floor issues/problems and special projects that will improve existing process and procedures
  • Interact in a positive manner with all plant employees at all levels of the organization, and promote productive relationships based on credibility and trust
  • Gather and compile Supplier Food Safety questionnaires for raw ingredient and packaging material suppliers
  • Complete other duties as assigned by QA TL and Manager

Shift Timings: After training the schedule will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM

Education/Certifications:

  • Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in Science

Experience:

  • One year of relevant experience required, preferably in food manufacturing

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • The position requires the knowledge necessary to understand the basic operational, technical and office processes.
  • Ability to use computer and job related software as well as various office equipment as needed to perform job functions.
  • The ability to promote a product through product knowledge and sales techniques.
  • The ability to use a variety of kitchen equipment and utensils; and the ability to utilize various meters and analyzers.

Working Conditions And Physical Effort:

  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise.
  • Work environment involves moderate exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, fire hazards and electrical hazards.
  • Position requires the ability to stand and walk around the laboratory during product testing. Must have the ability to lift, carry, pull, push and reach in order to perform various functions. Must be able to see in order to observe and record results; and be able to utilize fine dexterity. Must be able to communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.
  • Personal protective equipment, as defined by C.H. Guenther will be provided.

$20.56 - $33.20
