What is the Opportunity?
Research Associate responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in the US Pharmaceutical sector.
What will you do?
- Provide research support to the Senior Analyst
- Develop an expertise in the US Pharmaceutical sector and covered companies
- Assist in the development of detailed company-specific models as well as macro/market models
- Coordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databases
- Support and answer client queries as they relate to the sector & coverage
- Establish and maintain relationships with coverage companies, investors and internal colleagues within RBC Capital Markets
- Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
- Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
- Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis
What do you need to succeed?
Basic Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or similar qualification with a focus on Business, Finance, Mathematics or other quantitative fields
- NYSE Licensing Requirements – Series 7, 63, 86 & 87, SIE
Other Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in life sciences/therapeutics is an asset
- Prior work experience in capital markets, equity research, or investment banking; Previous exposure to the Pharmaceutical sector a plus
- Understanding of accounting and financial modeling concepts/techniques
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Excel) with ability to quickly learn new platforms
- Detail oriented with solid analytical skills and ability to synthesize data points into trends beyond the mainstream
- Energetic, self-motivated and an ability to perform under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time
- Demonstrated passion for equity/financial markets
- Solid understanding of financial/stock market

- Regular interaction with clients
- Supporting Senior Analyst
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- Internal clients including sales and trading
- External clients as required
WORKING CONDITIONS
- The work environment is based on a office/trading floor, thus little physical effort is required
- The office environment can be a high stress environment that requires quick turnaround and decision making

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $100,000 - $160,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
