Our client is a multi-entity real estate development and construction organization with a long presence shaping communities in Nova Scotia. Known for creating landmark residential and mixed-use developments, they continue to expand their footprint across land development, construction services, rental properties, and complementary operating businesses. At the heart of their success is a collaborative accounting team that supports the company’s broad portfolio of projects and operating entities. As the organization continues to grow, they are seeking a Bookkeeper / Accounting Technician to strengthen its finance function and ensure timely, accurate, and efficient financial operations.

Your New Role

As a Bookkeeper / Accounting Technician, you will join an established eight-person accounting team and play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial records that inform critical business decisions. Your work will serve across multiple entities within the organization, offering variety and exposure to areas such as land development, construction, and property management. You will be responsible for completing bank reconciliations and related accounting analysis, managing credit-card accounting and performing general full-cycle accounting bookkeeping tasks. You will perform related-party and intercompany reconciliations to maintain accuracy across the group, supporting the month-end close process to ensure timely reporting for management, and providing hands-on bookkeeping support across corporate and real estate property accounting operations. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Accounting team, benefiting from mentorship while enjoying the autonomy to manage your own responsibilities.

What Sets You Apart

You are an experienced, detail-oriented bookkeeper who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity owner-managed environment and takes pride in delivering accurate financial records that drive business success. You possess strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals, including debits, credits, and accrual accounting, as well as experience in handling intercompany transactions and reconciliations. You can work independently and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines. Exposure to real estate, construction, or property accounting would be considered an asset, as would familiarity with Sage 50 or Yardi accounting software. Most importantly, you enjoy variety in your work and the satisfaction of seeing your efforts directly contribute to the business's growth.
