Qulliq Energy Corporation

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is entrusted to provide safe, reliable power to all customers in Nunavut. Owned by the Government of Nunavut and operated as an arms-length territorial corporation, QEC is the sole provider of electricity and district heating in Nunavut. In comparison to other utilities in Canada, QEC faces unique challenges as it operates 25 stand-alone diesel power generation facilities and distribution systems located in each of the territory's communities.

QEC-25-039 Travel Clerk - Term – 1.5yr

Based on Baker Lake, Nunavut and reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor, the Travel Clerk is responsible for planning and coordinating travel and accommodation needed by staff on business travel. Process all business travel claims and reconciles the corporate travel charge account. Maintains travel-related files. Developing and maintaining procedure manuals. Assisting in negotiating vendor contracts for air, hotel, and automobile services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Arrange business travel for all QEC employees.
  • Processes QEC employee travel claims.
  • Reconciles the travel a count.
  • Maintains organized and functional filing systems and cost reporting.
  • Other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications Include:

  • High school diploma.
  • One (1) year of office administration experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts, the public, and work as part of a team with colleagues and supervisors.

Assets:

  • Post-secondary education in office or business administration is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language and culture.
  • The ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and/or French.

Equivalencies consisting of a combination of related education and experience may be considered.

We offer a competitive starting salary range of $76,362.00 to $85,410.00 per year, a northern living allowance of $24,281 per annum, eligibility for overtime, and a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension program. This position is included in the Nunavut Employees Union.

This competition is restricted to Nunavut Inuit residing in Baker Lake.
