About the role

What you’ll do

We are seeking an innovative and strategic leader to fill the role of Associate Vice President (AVP) of Women’s Apparel Purchasing. This role is crucial in the development and driving our Womenswear strategy to achieve and exceed financial objectives, including sales targets, gross margin goals, and inventory turnover.

You will have the responsibility for leading a larger segment of the business, having multiple merchant direct reports, and responsibility for the performance of multiple product groups. The AVP will be responsible for leading, inspiring, and developing a team of direct reports including hiring, performance management, coaching, and feedback.

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a merchandising strategy that meets or surpasses financial goals.
  • Short-term & Long-term Planning: Create and inspire short-term strategies that align with and support long-term business objectives.
  • Capability Management: Define essential capabilities for executing the strategy and oversee its implementation.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze business performance to inform future strategies, respond to trends, and adjust tactics accordingly.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team. Make key decisions on hiring, performance management, coaching, and terminations.
  • Collaboration & Relationship Building: Maintain strong relationships with core team members, support cross functional teams, and vendor partners to drive innovation and product development.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Lead initiatives to establish best practices within the assigned business segment.
  • Business Segment Oversight: Oversee a larger segment of the business, manage multiple merchant direct reports, and ensure the success of multiple product groups.

What you bring

  • 10 years of apparel buying experience.
  • Previous leadership roles in purchasing or related areas.
  • Strong leadership skills, including experience managing and leading teams.
  • A deep understanding of the women’s apparel industry and market trends.
  • Demonstrates strong experience in retail business acumen.
  • Experience in P&L responsibility.
  • Omni Channel Experience.
  • Cross-functional experience.
