Join Our Team as an Engineering Co-op – Business Development & Market Intelligence at Johnson Electric!
Location: Mississauga, Ontario (Onsite)
Reports To: Business Director, Fluid Power Solutions Canada
Vacancy Type: Co-op Position (Starting from May 2026 for 16 months)
Pay range: $22-$24 per hour
Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:
As an Engineering Co-op in Business Development & Market Intelligence, you’ll assist our team in leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital tools, and data analytics to support market research, cost estimation, and strategic planning. This role offers hands-on exposure to advanced technologies and business development processes within the automotive powertrain industry. You’ll gain practical experience in analyzing market trends, supporting product feasibility assessments, and contributing to data-driven decision-making.
RESULTS:
- Contribute to business development outcomes through market research, cost estimation support, and data-driven insights.
- Develop clear dashboards/reports that inform internal decision-making and align with product feasibility assessments.
- Support cross-functional collaboration by documenting filing and findings and preparing materials for technical/customer discussions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Market Research & Trend Analysis: Assist in gathering and organizing data on automotive technology trends, competitor activities, and product benchmarks.
- Data Analysis & Cost Estimation: Support the development of basic cost models and ROI calculations using historical data and simple predictive techniques.
- Process Alignment: Help review product designs and manufacturing processes to identify potential compatibility and optimization opportunities.
- Dashboarding & Reporting: Contribute to creating clear and concise reports or visualizations for internal stakeholders.
- Technical Support: Learn and apply basic concepts of fluid mechanics and automotive pump systems to assist in product discussions and feasibility checks.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams including Sales, Engineering, and Operations and Business Unit (BU) teams in other regions (Europe and Asia) to support new business initiatives.
- Customer Interaction: Participate in meetings as an observer and assist in preparing technical documentation or presentations.
What We’re Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Interest in automotive systems, fluid mechanics, or manufacturing processes.
- Basic knowledge of data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, Python, SQL, or similar) is an asset.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- English: Fluent (spoken and written)
- Mandarin: Asset
- “Can Do” attitude
