Site Description:
Goodwill’s McDougall St. Community Store (1643 McDougall St.) is a busy thrift and donation centre offering clothing, books, housewares, and employment-support programs. Security guards oversee donation-drop areas, monitor foot traffic, deter theft, and maintain a safe environment for staff, shoppers, and clients accessing job-training services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist visitors, and employee during crisis and contact the necessary emergency services as needed
- Ensure that the property is safe by ensuring all security measures are functioning properly
- Enthusiastically conducts proactive patrols (exterior and Interior), and be able to address policy breeches, and note facility concerns.
- Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner as not to create a panic amongst the public
- Ability to de-escalate a crisis, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including; police, fire and paramedic resources.
- Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries
- Ability to provide first aid and medical response when required to any person
- Maintain positive and constructive relationships with The Client’s staff and external clients by providing timely and accurate support as required.
- Perform duties and tasks assigned by the Security Leadership team and respond to the directions of the client
Job Requirements:
- Must possess Ontario Security Guard License.
- First Aid & CPR – Level C
- Valid G Class Ontario Driver’s License & Drivers Abstract
- Post-Secondary education in law enforcement from a recognized institution or equivalent experience is preferred
- Physical Demands include excessive walking and standing.
- Patrol area on foot and vehicle as assigned, to ensure personal, building, and equipment security.
- Utilize radio and computer applications for communicating site activities.
- Watch for and report irregularities by completing incident reports, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess excellent computer skills.
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact, and diplomacy.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
- First Aid and CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
- Proficient in English (both oral and written)
- Vulnerable Sector Check
