Job Description
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting on the material handling system at Toronto Pearson Airport. The work performed falls under the direct supervision of the Residential Services Site Manager, Assistant Site Manager or Shift Supervisor. Must be able to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in the material handling system
- Reset system errors caused by luggage, equipment, or operator issues
- Assist engineers with fault diagnostics and routine maintenance tasks
- Perform scheduled maintenance and clean equipment and surrounding areas
- Support BEUMER Group systems based on customer requirements
- Monitor and report on system performance
- Accurately log activities and part usage in the CMMS system
- Follow all Health and Safety guidelines and protocols
- Escalate issues according to standard procedures
- Provide feedback and operational insights to BEUMER Group management
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced airport setting with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
- Frequent walking and standing across large facilities
- Must be available for rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications
Requirements:

Licensed Industrial Millwright (443A) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial setting, preferably working with baggage handling systems or automated material handling equipment

RAIC Security Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain clearance as required

Strong strategic insight and operational understanding
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant systems and products
-
Skilled in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and process development

Maintains a positive, professional attitude in fast-paced environments
-
Proficient with computers and maintenance software; experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
