We are seeking a Territory Equipment Sales Representative to grow our relationships and sales in the Southern California territory. Our organization serves from the Mexico boarder to San Luis Obispo.
This position has a competitive base salary of $70K with an uncapped incentive-driven commission plan. NexTech Systems provides employees with Health, Dental, Vision, Life & AD&D Insurance as well as the option for other insurances more specific to individual needs. Requirements Candidates with Sales experience in the Traffic industry preferred.
Key Responsibilities Sales & Customer Development
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned territories.
- Build and maintain long-term customer relationships through regular in-person visits, presentations, and product demonstrations.
- Support Regional Sales Managers on joint sales calls, vendor presentations, and customer meetings to close contracts.
- Prepare and present proposals, quotes, and responses to RFPs and RFIs.
- Maintain accurate sales activity and pipeline updates using CRM tools.
Technical & Field Support
- Conduct field surveys and on-site troubleshooting to better understand customer challenges and generate future sales opportunities.
- Deliver technical product training to external customers and internal staff to strengthen product knowledge and confidence.
- Represent NexTech at trade shows, conferences, and industry association events as a company ambassador.
- Participate in the planning and execution of User Group meetings and customer engagement events.
Business Growth & Product Support
- Collaborate with internal teams to support the successful execution of large or complex projects.
- Identify new product opportunities and supplier partnerships aligned with company objectives.
- Provide feedback from customers and field experience to guide product development and improvement.
Qualifications Education & Experience
- 5-7 years of outside sales or technical service experience in the traffic signal or ITS industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Technical Field, Marketing, Sales, Business or other related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of Intelligent Traffic Systems, detection products, wireless communications, and emerging transportation technologies.
- Proven track record of building customer relationships and generating new business.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills; confident delivering product demonstrations and technical discussions.
- Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving ability with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable working independently.
- Willingness to travel throughout locally, regionally and occasionally elsewhere in the U.S. Travel may require occasional single or multiple overnight stays.
Physical Demands And Work Environment
- Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, stand, and walk.
- Use of hands for typing, handling devices, and demonstrating products.
- Lifting of up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Requires the ability to see clearly at close and distant ranges and adjust focus when needed.
- Field-based role requiring travel up to 30% within Southern California that may include overnight stays. Occasional travel outside of California that will require overnight stays.
