About the role
The**People & Culture Assistant (Summer Student)**plays a role in providing a positive team member experience by supporting recruitment processes, coordinating onboarding activities, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to policy and process improvements. This role ensures confidentiality, professionalism, efficiency, and alignment with CPSA standards and values in all interactions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment Support:
- Administer and organize recruitment activities, including preparing and posting positions, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, reference checks, and drafting offer letters.
Onboarding & Offboarding Support:
- Facilitate distribution and collection of new hire employment documentation
- Creation of new hire profile within HR systems
- Assist with arranging system access, equipment, and onboarding activities
- Coordinate completion of mandatory training requirements
- Ensure accurate retention and filing of employment documentation
- Coordinate and organize offboarding activities
Employment & Compliance:
- Organize documentation for employment changes and update HR systems
- Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity across various systems
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and employment standards
Policy & Documentation Standardization:
- Support the creation of policy development and update all policies to a standardized template
- Update all outdated position profiles to a standardized template and ensure updated in various systems
- Maintain document governance
Team Appreciation Support:

Provide administrative support for team appreciation initiatives, including researching and contacting venues and vendors, preparing materials, tracking attendance, and supporting event setup and post-event activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
-Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education with a specialization in Human Resources, or enrolled same program, preferably completed one year of the program
- One year of administrative experience.
-Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills
- Organization and prioritization skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Microsoft Office 365
- Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills
- Customer-service focused and able to effectively communicate
- A broad range of human resources and recruiting knowledge. Working knowledge of both provincial and federal labour law and regulations, and privacy legislation, is an asset.
CONTRACT DURATION

Approximately 16 weeks (May 2026 to August 2026)

Monday to Friday, 35 hours/week
PAY RATE The hourly rate for this position is $25 plus 4% vacation paid out on each cheque. Parking or transit reimbursement will be provided.
