About The Role As a Senior Security Specialist, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of Saskatchewan’s healthcare technology systems. You’ll lead investigations, strengthen defenses, and ensure compliance with security policies and legislation. By proactively identifying risks and responding to incidents, you’ll help protect sensitive health information and support the delivery of secure, reliable digital health services across the province.
What You’ll Do Reporting to the Manager, Information Security Operations, you will:
- Lead investigations into security incidents, employee access, and the use of organizational assets.
- Monitor and optimize intrusion detection, prevention, and security monitoring tools to improve detection capabilities.
- Perform forensic analysis of systems, networks, and cloud environments).
- Provide input into security policies, standards, and audits, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Collaborate with IT, Privacy, and Architecture teams to integrate security into infrastructure and service design.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the continuous improvement of incident response processes.
What You’ll Bring To The Team
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; relevant cyber security certification(s) is an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity incident response, threat detection, or related role.
- Expertise with SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and other incident response tools.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS), network protocols, and cloud security.
- Ability to automate tasks using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Perl.
