Job Summary This postion of Consultant, Financial Policy & Research is responsible for identifying and securing grants funding for the City of Mississauga.
Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Financial Initiatives, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Monitor government trends to forecast federal and provincial funding opportunities, enabling successful project alignment.
- Research, promote, and market grant and funding programs to internal stakeholders.
- Provide recommendations to management on corporate priorities for external funding.
- Prepare and submit grant applications on behalf of the City.
- Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective fund providers, including businesses and government agencies.
- Encourage cross-departmental collaboration in developing external funding strategies.
- Assist in preparing legal agreements related to secured funding.
- Draft correspondence, briefing notes, corporate reports, funding strategies, and policies.
- Maintain grant dashboard reports for the Mayor, Council, and Leadership Team.
- Conduct financial reviews, modeling, and analysis of funding opportunities in relation to the City’s Business Plan and Budget.
- Participate in the claims submission process to secure grant funding transfers.
- Contribute to the development of related financial policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills And Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Public Policy, Economics, Business, Finance or a related field. With a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a municipal or public sector environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Excellent research, verbal, and written skills with the ability to write comprehensive and complex documents, reports and business cases;
- Demonstrated leadership, team building skills and strong interpersonal skills;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including members of council, regional partners and government agencies;
- Ability to manage multiple projects often with competing priorities;
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills;
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively, coordinating cross-functional teams;
- Ability to work effectively under pressing deadlines;
- Ability to research, collect, and analyze large amounts of information and data;
- Proficiency with related computer software applications, particularly MS Office. Knowledge of SAP and Questica systems an asset
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 49.16 - $ 65.54
Hours of Work: 35
