Job Summary:
A Senior Controls Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of manufacturing processes. This role is critical to maintaining the operational efficiency, safety, and competitiveness of the plant in a global market.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Develop and implement control systems for manufacturing equipment, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMI (Human-Machine Interfaces), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. Design automated solutions to improve production efficiency and reduce downtime**.**
- Programming and Configuration: Write and debug PLC code to control machinery and processes. MI/SCADA Configuration: Configure HMI and SCADA systems for monitoring and controlling manufacturing operations.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: System Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on control systems to ensure they operate correctly. Diagnose and resolve issues with control systems and related equipment, minimizing production interruptions**.**
- Integration and Upgrades: System Integration: Integrate new equipment and technology into existing control systems. Plan and implement upgrades to control systems to improve performance and accomodate new manufacturing processes.
- Quality and Compliance: Quality Assurance: Ensure that control systems meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of control systems, including schematics, diagrams, and software.
- Team Collaboration: Work with other engineers, production staff, and management to optimize manufacturing processes. Provide training for plant personnel on the operation and maintenance of control systems**.**
- Project Planning: Manage projects related to control systems, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for the procurement and installation of control systems.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering. Preferred for in-depth knowledge of control systems and electrical components.
- Control Systems Engineering: Focuses specifically on the design and management of control systems. Mechanical Engineering: Useful for understanding the mechanical aspects of automated systems.
- Computer Engineering: Beneficial for the programming and software aspects of control systems.
- Technical Skills: PLC Programming: Proficiency in programming PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi).HMI/SCADA Systems: Expertise in designing and configuring HMI and SCADA systems.
- Control Theory: Strong understanding of control systems principles and applications.
- Automation Software: Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar for designing control systems.
- Electrical Schematics: Ability to read and create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Network Systems: Understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet).
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve control system issues.
- Data Analysis: Ability to analyze data from control systems to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Typically 5-10 years of experience in control systems engineering or a related field.
- System Design and Implementation: Proven track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Experience in diagnosing and fixing control system issues in a manufacturing environment.
- International Projects: Experience working on projects in different countries and understanding global standards.
- Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with diverse teams across different regions.
- Mentoring and Training: Experience in mentoring junior engineers and providing training to plant personnel.
