Description Driver Examiner The Driver Examiner is responsible for the effective testing of new employees and the continued evaluation of current drivers. In-house training is provided as per the programs, policies and guidelines of SOUTHLAND’s Safety and Training Department. This position requires an ability to communicate well with tact and diplomacy in confidential matters. The Driver Examiner reports directly to the Area Manager of Safety and Training. This will be a full-time position (Monday through Friday) with some travel required in Southern Alberta. This position is year-round and requires availability during the summer months as well as any breaks during the school year.
Knowledge And Skills Required
- Class 2S license preferred, training can be provided to obtain a class 2S
- Current driver examiner license or willing to obtain a license
- Strong computer and tablet skills are required to be successful
- Knowledge of Highway Traffic Act and emergency procedures
- Clear 10-year commercial driver's abstract and clear criminal record
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Conduct Class 2S road tests in Calgary and Southern Alberta
- Conduct a variety of evaluations throughout the year with new and current drivers
- Ride alongs with new drivers
Working Conditions Typical hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday, with additional hours based on operational needs. A company vehicle is available to the examiner for work outside of Calgary.
