Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $148,000 - $174,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

The Manager, Application Delivery contributes to Wawanesa’s success by leading delivery and quality initiatives that support Wawanesa Life systems for members, brokers, and employees. Reporting to the Vice President, Life Systems, this role leads a team of IT professionals and oversees data, integration, and reporting initiatives across the Wawanesa Life organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery and implementation of data, integration, and reporting initiatives to ensure value for customers while maximizing reliability, availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Assign and manage Application Delivery resources (employees and consultants) to ensure effective and efficient delivery.
  • Work with project managers and delivery leads to establish development plans that fulfill program and project objectives.
  • Ensure processes, methodologies, policies, and procedures are followed, and contribute to continuous improvement in these areas.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the annual operational plan.
  • Maintain accountability for department service levels and overall application vitality.
  • Understand and interpret data to support objective, data-driven decisions.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to create a respectful, challenging, and rewarding work environment where employees can reach their full potential and contribute to company goals.
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsource, and consultant contracts, service agreements, and ongoing service delivery.
  • Monitor industry developments and provide recommendations to improve practices, tools, and delivery approaches.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in a senior IS role, ideally in an environment focused on data, integrations, and reporting.
  • Post-secondary degree or certificate in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in software delivery and quality practices, technologies, and delivery methodologies.
  • Proven history of developing, leading, and delivering successful technology solutions with measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management experience, with the ability to build and maintain effective teams and relationships in a complex matrix environment.
  • Experience with software tools, development lifecycles, methodologies, and technologies relevant to application delivery.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, critical thinking, and planning skills.
  • Ability to lead others to embrace change, perform effectively, and adapt quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely and coordinate change across an organization.
  • Personal qualities of a strong leader, including resilience, adaptability, and self-awareness.
  • Ability to make well-informed decisions in complex and high-pressure situations and coach others to do the same.
  • Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is an asset.
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, SAFe, PMP, or Six Sigma are considered strong assets.
