About The Role POSITION : DB2– Festival Assistant – Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival

WORK SCHEDULE: 4 business days / 32 hours per week WORK LOCATION: Hybrid: Own home and office
JOB SUMMARY : Reporting to and working directly under the supervision of the Director of Fundraising & Sport. Assist with the coordination of event registration and team communications.
Responsibilities
- Assist with managing and tracking various Festival related data, extensively using Google Sheets.
- Communicate with and support team administrators, participants and supporters.
- Assist with researching and developing materials and communications related to Festival events.
- Work with the Team Services team to ensure required event supplies are coordinated in advance.
- Assist with creating a promotional and marketing campaign.
- Assist the event management team with planning and implementation related to the festival in June 2026 and will be closely involved with onsite set-up and tear-down
- Liaise with Board of Directors and other event staff as necessary; other related duties as required by event staff team.
SKILLS And QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in a related field.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, recent experience using MS Office programs, and strong written and verbal skills are required.
- Previous event management and/or coordination experience would be an asset.
- Ability to work under pressure and on various projects simultaneously and autonomously.
- Bilingual in French and English would be considered an asset.
Additional Qualifications Required Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:
- An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.
- A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
- Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.
- Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.
- Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least
$2000 in each of those years.
NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an
Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.
Remuneration $704 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $22.00 based on 4 days/32 hours).
