About The Opportunity Shermco Canada is seeking a motivated and safety minded Instrumentation Technician (Commissioning) to join our Saskatchewan Electrical Services team on the BHP Jansen Project . Our Electrical Services team provides electrical construction, maintenance, and specialty services and solutions to our many clients in industrial sectors such as Utility, Mining, Oil & Gas, Technology and many more. From 24v to 230kV, our team does it all.

Responsibilities

  • Commissioning of instrumentation systems.
  • Perform control system integration, loop checks, startup and commissioning services.
  • Install new, calibrate and maintain various types of field instruments and tubing.
  • Troubleshoot control system components including but not limited to: PLC hardware, instrument and control signal and power wiring.
  • Troubleshoot control system components including but not limited to: transmitters, switches, solenoid valves, control valves, I/P's and similar devices.
  • As required, support electrical construction and maintenance activities and work scopes.
  • Work in industrial work settings and environments.
  • Work around energized power and control equipment.
  • Effectively instruct, mentor and coach apprentices and team members to support safe and efficient job/task execution.
  • Determine appropriate selection of materials.
  • Determine appropriate application of installations and ensure all meet company and client standards and regulations.
  • Keep maintenance, quality, test reports and documentation.
  • Work safely in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform all duties to a level of competency, normally expected of an Instrumentation Technician.
  • Take part and engage in Shermco Proactive Safety Reporting and leading indicators.
  • Engage in client field audit/inspection activities.
  • Will be responsible to become familiar with, abide by, and to administer the Shermco Health, Personnel and Safety policies.
  • Will adhere to Shermco’s Alcohol and Drug Policy as defined; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyman Certificate or Technologist Diploma.
  • Experience in commissioning of instrumentation systems considered an asset.
  • Experience in industrial setting considered an asset.
  • Industrial facility safe work qualifications/training considered asset.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and able to maintain a clean abstract.
  • Available for out-of-town work based on varying project requirements.
