About the role

Required A strategic opportunity at the heart of Desjardins Group💚The Desjardins Group Monitoring Office 💚 is evolving to transform its internal audit function and adopt a more agile, innovative and strategic approach. As a member of the Insurance and Wealth Management Monitoring Department, you’ll serve as a high-level expert on Canada-wide mandates that have a major impact on risk control, governance and the achievement of organizational objectives. The complex nature of these mandates requires solid knowledge of wealth management activities (securities, asset management and group retirement savings) and related risk management. Practical experience in first-line operations or second-line risk management is a valuable asset we’re looking for. As an internal auditor, you’ll need to take a step back to evaluate how processes are managed, assess best practices and identify areas to improve. You’ll also be called upon to contribute to strategic high-value mandates by helping partners roll out their initiatives. You must demonstrate a proven ability to exercise sound professional judgment and effectively influence high-level partners. Finally, you will ensure ongoing monitoring of wealth management risks to help update the audit plan and prioritize high-impact mandates. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Plan and carry out internal auditing work in accordance with the agile audit plan
  • Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of governance, risk management and control processes
  • Analyze complex environments and make valuable recommendations
  • Present findings and opinions to managers, departments and committees
  • Monitor action plans and support partners
  • Serve as a resource person and coach for your colleagues, senior management and decision-making bodies
  • Help develop continuous auditing and analytics tools
  • Represent the unit on various committees
  • Build and maintain trusting partnerships

What You Bring To The Table

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, management or a related field
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Experience in one or more key wealth management activities (product manufacturing, back-office operations, portfolio management or distribution)
  • Experience in financial engineering, modelling, structured products or market risk management
  • Hold or be in the process of obtaining a CIA, CPA, CFA, FRM, or PRM/ORM designation
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Intermediate advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment (AMF, OSFI, CIRO, etc.)
