Our client, a global leader in the food ingredients industry, is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer for their global headquarters in Montreal, QC. The Mechanical Project Engineer will support the execution of capital improvement and plant layout projects, with a focus on mechanical design and installation. This role involves developing layouts, managing equipment installations, and ensuring efficient integration of tanks, piping systems, and liquid batch processing equipment. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external contractors to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead mechanical design efforts for plant layout and capital improvement projects.

Develop conceptual and preliminary engineering designs, including equipment and piping layouts.

Specify, evaluate, and oversee the procurement and installation of tanks, piping, and mechanical systems.

Prepare technical drawings (AutoCAD), project budgets, schedules, and CAPEX requests.

Supervise contractors during construction, equipment installation, and commissioning.

Contribute to continuous improvement projects, including feasibility studies and process enhancements.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical project engineering or plant engineering.
- Strong background in tanks, piping, and liquid batch processing systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and MS Office Suite.
- Experience with capital projects, plant layout, and cross-functional project leadership.
- Familiarity with GMP, SOPs, and industrial safety practices is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication in French, conversational in English
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec strongly preferred
