The Ministry of Agriculture, Lands Branch is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and passionate leader with strong communication and coaching skills to lead a team of Land Management Specialists.

Lands Branch is responsible for managing agricultural Crown lands, which include large tracts of grazing land currently under lease and the beds, banks, and shores of one million acres of waterbody. As the Director of the new Irrigation, Resources and Development Unit, you will lead a group of professional Agrologists that will manage the Crown agricultural land, administer non-agricultural dispositions such as petroleum and gas, irrigation projects, sand and gravel, miscellaneous land uses, and provide service excellence to our industry clients and producers. Traveling will be required. Reporting directly to the Director, Land Management Services, you will have the opportunity to build new processes and guidelines with your team for the IRD unit.

You have a solid understanding of agriculture, agri-business, industry, and direct experience working with oil and gas, irrigation projects, sand and gravel clients to succeed in this position. An understanding of the issues and trends affecting the local Western Canadian agriculture, agri-business, oil and gas sectors is necessary to be successful in this role. This local knowledge will assist you in contributing to and driving forward the strategic direction of the ministry and branch with a clear focus on the Saskatchewan Growth Plan targets, our clients, and our stakeholders.

Typically, the competencies, knowledge, and skills required for this position would be obtained through a degree in agriculture, oil and gas engineering, or a related discipline, combined with significant leadership experience.
