The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice to join our Mines Maintenance Team working on site in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position.
Applicants will need to be registered with Manitoba apprenticeship and successfully completed level 1 .
As a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on a diverse fleet of underground mobile equipment as well as assisting other maintenance employees as required.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections according to scheduled plans and check equipment for optimal performance.
- Complete breakdown and corrective reports, as well as minor maintenance documentation.
- Test and adjust repaired systems to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and operational needs.
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts and components as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and other regular upkeep.
- Carry out final safety inspections and provide actionable improvement suggestions to supervisors and planners.
About You Education:
- Applicants will need to be registered with Manitoba apprenticeship and successfully completed level 1.
- Applicants will be subject to completing an HD assessment through Thomson Solutions. The applicants will need to be successful in the assessment to qualify for a position.
Experience:
- Successfully completed level 1
- Experience working in a mobile equipment maintenance department would be an asset.
