Job Summary: The Refrigeration Specialist is a part-time, on-call position responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting refrigeration systems to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role offers flexible shift work, with availability required for afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The ideal candidate will be skilled, dependable, and able to support ongoing operations while adhering to all safety and compliance standards. Role and Accountability:

Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on refrigeration systems and related equipment.

Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner.

Ensure refrigeration systems meet safety, health, and regulatory compliance standards.

Diagnose issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
-
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
-
Support operations team with refrigeration-related needs as assigned.

Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and procedures, and provide feedback to supervisors when updates or improvements are needed.

Execute daily responsibilities to meet departmental goals while adhering to company values (Humble, Driven, Solutions-Oriented).

Provide feedback and suggestions to improve processes within the scope of the role.

Attend relevant department and company-wide meetings, including Level 10 meetings, contributing to organizational alignment and effectiveness.

Collaborate cross-functionally to address challenges, develop solutions, and align strategies with company goals.

Utilize Microsoft To-Do (or similar) for task tracking and reminders, ensuring productivity and accountability.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum Class B Refrigeration License.

Proven experience in refrigeration repair and maintenance.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Availability for flexible shift work including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to lift, move, and work with equipment as required.

Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Education and Experience:

Class B Refrigeration License (required).
-
High school diploma or equivalent (required).

Post-secondary training in HVAC/Refrigeration, Mechanical, or related technical field (preferred but not mandatory).

2+ years of experience in refrigeration system maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair (industrial or commercial experience preferred).

Valid Ontario driver’s license with a clean driving record (preferred, for flexibility in supporting multiple sites).

WHMIS and Health & Safety training (preferred; can be provided upon hire if not already completed).

Additional certifications (e.g., Ozone Depletion Prevention [ODP] card) are considered an asset.
