Overview:

Reporting to the Operations Coordinator of CMHA Kenora Branch, the Full-Time Cleaner Position of CMHA Kenora Branch is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the CMHA Kenora Branch operated locations. This includes ensuring all areas meet infection control standards and support the health and dignity of individuals accessing services through the locations operated by the Canadian Mental Health Association, Kenora Branch. Hours of work are: Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Qualifications:

High school graduation diploma or GED preferred

Personal qualities of empathy, understanding, and patience

Good interpersonal communication and relationship building skills

Cultural competence for diverse populations

Understanding of trauma informed practice and implementation

Good documentation skills

Ability to learn and understand online scheduling

Demonstrated understanding of personal space and ability to role model healthy boundaries

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Attention to detail to perform a

Ability to complete physically demanding tasks

Understanding of infection control guidelines and other safe work procedures

Possess a strong attention to detail

Strong time management skills

First aid & CPR/AED, Mental health first aid, and NVCI or willing to obtain

Valid G Driver’s License

Duties:

  • Adherence to all policies and procedures of Canadian Mental Health Association, Kenora Branch

  • Adhere to daily or weekly cleaning tasks at different sites according to the schedule below:

Kenora Emergency Shelter:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Tuesday & Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The hours for this vary slightly depending on remaining duties for the day.

Daily tasks at this location include:

  • Perform general housekeeping duties on the 2nd floor of the Kenora Emergency Shelter for the Clinical Service Hub & HART Hub. This includes dusting, sweeping and mopping floors including offices, washroom, hallway and stairway, emptying garbage, cleaning and disinfecting the primary care room to hospital clean standards.

  • Perform duties in the main area and outside of the Kenora Emergency Shelter where clients of the Clinical Service Hub & HART Hub access. This includes winter shoveling of walkways & entrances/exits, sweep and mop office floors, washing and disinfecting bunks, deep cleaning lockers in the winter months to remove salt and mud, window cleaning and wall cleaning

Safe Bed Program

Tuesday & Thursday 1:00 p.m.– 2:00 p.m.

Tasks at this location include:

  • Deep clean 3 washrooms at the site location. This includes shower/tub, washbasins, toilets, wipe down trim, heat registers & walls, clean window and sills, disinfect light switches.

Kenora Supportive Housing

Tuesday & Thursday 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Tasks at this location include:

  • Deep clean 4 washrooms at the site location. This includes shower/tub, washbasins, toilets, wipe down trim, heat registers & walls, clean window and sills, disinfect light switches.

CMHA Main Office

Monday, Wednesday & Friday 2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday & Thursday 3:30 p.m.– 4:30 p.m.

Tasks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday include:

  • Empty garbage cans, dust trim and all flat surface (excluding desks), clean washrooms in

CMHA Kenora Branch space, clean interior windows/plexiglass, vacuum/sweep and mop floors in all Canadian Mental Health Office areas at the main office. The vacuuming is to be done after 4:30pm.

Tasks on Tuesday & Thursday include:

  • Clean washrooms and empty garbage cans in all Canadian Mental Health Kenora Branch Office areas

  • Maintain order in accordance with CMHA Kenora Branch policies

  • Communicate with the Operations Coordinator or designate regarding any building maintenance issues to be addressed

  • Ensure completion of shift responsibilities and routines

  • Perform administrative functions as directed

  • Attend monthly staff meetings and education/training opportunities as required

  • Provide a safe environment by ensuring adherences to Workplace Health and Safety Regulations and Policies, Infection Control Guidelines, WHIMIS and Safe Work Procedures, including but not limited to Fire, Disaster and Evacuation Plans

  • Support an environment which avoids, prevents, and corrects all activities or actions which may result in an adverse outcome in the delivery of mental health services

  • Responsible for self-care

  • Other duties as directed
