We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to make AI smarter — and we need physicists to help get it there. As a Physics Subject Matter Expert, you'll use your advanced knowledge to challenge, evaluate, and improve how AI systems reason through complex physics problems. Your expertise directly shapes the quality of cutting-edge AI models used by millions.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role — work on your own schedule, from anywhere.
Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design rigorous physics problems spanning mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and more Develop clear, step-by-step solutions that demonstrate expert-level reasoning Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, logical consistency, and solution quality Identify weaknesses in AI reasoning and provide structured, actionable feedback Collaborate with researchers to build and refine benchmarks across undergraduate to Masters-level physics Work independently and asynchronously on task-based assignments
Who You Are
Currently pursuing or have completed a Masters degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field Strong problem-solving skills across multiple advanced physics domains Able to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and precisely in writing Detail-oriented with a rigorous, analytical mindset Self-motivated and comfortable working independently No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or academic research Familiarity with AI or machine learning concepts Background in tutoring, curriculum design, or technical writing
