Scope

The City of Surrey Arts Services Division is seeking qualified Theatre Technicians to work in the Surrey Civic Theatres (SCT). Providing the focal point for the performing arts in Surrey, the Civic Theatres are comprised of these performance spaces:

The Surrey Arts Centre's 405-seat Main Stage is a traditional proscenium stage and fly gallery located at Surrey Arts Centre.

The 129-seat Studio Theatre, a black box theatre located at Surrey Arts Centre.

Centre Stage in the Council Chambers at Surrey's City Hall is a 200-seat performance venue.

Other Civic venues such as Clayton Community Centre, and outdoor events in Surrey Parks.

Responsibilities

You will work with a skilled team of theatre professionals in the facilitation of all aspects of technical production work for SCT.

Assist in the setup, operation, and strike of lighting, sound, video, staging, and rigging systems for theatre productions, corporate events, concerts, festivals, and community rentals.

Liaise with clients during rental events to facilitate technical requirements and systems under direction of Technical Director.

Assist with routine maintenance of all facility theatre technical equipment and systems.

Ensure safety standards in the workplace are observed and maintained.

Qualifications

Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, supplemented by a minimum of 2 years directly related experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience.

Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR certificate or acceptable equivalent.

Hourly Rate: $28.66 (2024 rate)

Conditions of Employment

This position requires completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
