The Mood and Anxiety Service is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Social Worker 2. This multidisciplinary, team-based program provides assessment and treatment services for individuals with mood and anxiety disorders, including psychiatric follow-up, medication management, and structured, evidence-based psychotherapy delivered primarily in a group format.

The Social Worker 2 role focuses on the delivery of group-based psychotherapy, alongside coordination of care and selected individual clinical services for clients and family members as indicated. Working within an interprofessional model of care, you will collaborate closely with psychiatry, nursing, occupational therapy, and other allied health professionals to support client-centered treatment planning and service delivery. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as the program continues to evolve in response to service needs and emerging best practices.

You will contribute to assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing evaluation of client progress, with a primary emphasis on group treatment modalities. Responsibilities include coordinating referrals and care, monitoring client response to interventions, and ensuring timely documentation and communication with team members. You will work in partnership with clients, their supports, and community providers to support recovery and community integration.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong skills in behavioural observation, mental status assessment, and risk assessment within a group treatment context. You will bring sound knowledge of emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, recovery-oriented practice, addiction issues, and severe and persistent mental illness.

You will provide supervision to social work students. Participation in program development, quality improvement initiatives, research, and educational activities is expected. You will support a workplace culture that values diversity, collaboration, and compliance with applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.

This position may involve day, evening, or weekend work and is located at the Queen Street site.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a Master of Social Work degree, be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and have a preferred minimum of three years of post-graduate clinical experience. Direct clinical experience in a mental health or addiction treatment setting, including demonstrated experience delivering group-based psychotherapy, is required.

Experience using cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, and dialectical behaviour therapy is required, with preference given to candidates with formal training or certification in these modalities, particularly in group formats. Eligibility for an adjunct faculty appointment with affiliated faculties of social work is required.

Knowledge of internet-based treatment models, emergency psychiatry, and crisis intervention theory is required. Familiarity with CAMH services, community mental health resources, and coordination of complex cases is essential. Demonstrated knowledge of mood, anxiety, and concurrent disorders, current treatment protocols, and recovery-oriented practice is required.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills are essential, along with strong computer skills related to electronic documentation and workload measurement systems. Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
