Overview
Reporting to the Head of Toddler and Children’s House, the CCEYA Officer/Student Support is responsible for providing administrative support for the day to day operations of the departments while ensuring adherence to the regulation of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), York Region Department of Health, as well as providing periodic classroom support as a Registered Early Childhood Educator.
The CCEYA Officer/ Student Support helps promote a culture where diversity is encouraged and students learn to respect differences, take responsibility for their actions, exercise leadership and strive for academic excellence.
This is a 15-18 month contract to cover a maternity leave, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Assist in updating and monitoring policies and procedures, create, maintain and update electronic and hard copy files, data entry and routine office support duties to meet CCEYA rules and regulations
- Identify and research changes in CCEYA and York Region Department of Health rules and regulations
- Work closely with Human Resources, School Nurse and Admissions to ensure Ministry-related information is acquired, up-to-date and organized
- Provide periodic assistance to the classrooms as a Registered Early Childhood Educator during the academic day and assist with snack and lunch preparation, cleaning, first aid and recess duty as required
- Assist in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students while fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment
- Early intervention for learning differences
- Collaborates with key stakeholders to create and implement Individual Support Plans that meet individual student needs, promoting trust, understanding and partnership with parents, teachers and students
- Facilitate support with third-party providers, such as York Region Early Intervention and in-school private therapy services
- All other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Qualifications

A RECE member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators

ECE Resource Teacher Consulting Certification (asset)

Degree or Diploma in a related field

Previous experience in a similar environment

Working knowledge of a variety of platforms e.g. Google, Microsoft Office and the Child Care Licensing System (CCLS)

Excellent communication skills
-
Proven ability to handle multiple demands under a heavy workload

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Commitment to strong student/educator relationships

Current Standard First Aid, CPR and AED
-
Health assessment and up-to-date immunization requirements set out in the CCEYA and York Region Public Health prior to employment

A current Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
