Posting Period: October 1, 2025 - October 7, 2025 Position Summary As a member of the interprofessional team, the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing expertise in psychiatric Nursing services, including management and administration of medication in conjunction with the team psychiatrist and other nurses on the team; assessing the unique needs of clients with additional physical complications; making appropriate referrals to community physicians; and providing consultation to Registered Practical Nurses on more complex client needs. The Registered Nurse also contributes to the development of comprehensive client-centered assessments and treatment and recovery plans; and service coordination for an assigned group of clients that includes providing a range of treatment, rehabilitation and support services

Position Responsibilities

  • Receives approved referrals from internal and external sources
  • Screens each inquiry for urgency of need and suitability of services in order to ensure that individuals receive to the most appropriate service in a timely manner
  • Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship with service recipients which include assertively reaching out to them in their natural environment
  • Involves the service recipient in the scope and focus of the assessment in accordance with their expressed needs and desires
  • Provides recovery focused assessment services as a Registered Nurse, using a standardized process and provides access to interprofessional assessment services in order to enhance the client’s and the referral source’s understanding of the presenting problem(s) and possible solution(s)
  • Takes a lead role or participates in providing medication administration and medical services
  • Provides ongoing assessment, problem-solving, side-by-side services, skill training, supervision (e.g. prompts, assignments, monitoring, encouragement), and environmental adaptations to assist individuals with activities of daily living

Required Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Current and unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible, current clinical experience providing evidence based assessment and intervention services to individuals with serious mental illness within a Recovery framework
  • Evidence of advanced education and training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) (as relevant to the population served) certification preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience in facilitating evidence-based groups (CBT, IPT, DBT) as appropriate for the population served
