Primary Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Technology and Information Management Branch (TIMB), and as a member of the Information Technology (IT) Section, the Sr. Business System Analyst role is to elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders. This includes interviewing stakeholders and gathering and compiling user requirements to understand the technological solutions they need. The Sr. analyst will use communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to support technological decisions. The Sr, Business System Analyst will also be proactive about looking for new technologies and solutions to optimize business processes. The Sr. Business System Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring IT’s understanding of business requirements by evaluating the business and information needs of the organization in order to develop recommendations and manage the implementation of solutions to address business needs and resolve related technology problems.
What you will bring to the table:
Education/Experience
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a relevant discipline or a combination of education and experience in business analysis, project management and structured systems analysis techniques and systems development life cycle methodologies.
- A minimum five (5) years demonstrated working experience in structured business and systems analysis and design, and project management. Project Management certification would be an asset.
Knowledge
- Demonstrated experience writing user stories and requirements
- Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, modeling, verification
- Demonstrated project management skills and project management software skills, including planning, organizing, and managing resources
- Understanding of application development and software development life cycle concepts
- Extensive experience with business process documentation
- Extensive experience setting up Azure DevOps
- Extensive experience using Visio to document workflows
- Working technical knowledge of MS Power Automate platforms, Power BI, SAP Concur, Nintex, Adobe Sign, DocuSign, Workday, etc.
Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive and technically sound advice to senior management, users and technical support staff in specific technical and business process areas.
- Proven ability in developing action plans and making presentations of plans and reports to management is essential.
- Demonstrated ability in creating system and end-user documentation including requirements definitions, flow charts, Gantt charts, data flow diagrams and training documents is required

- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
