Working for VIA Rail is being a part of a collective effort in sustainable mobility.   VIA Rail Canada Inc., a leader in passenger transportation in Canada, is currently looking to fill positions of Forklift Operators-General Workers at our Toronto Maintenance Center. As a General Worker, you will be responsible for cleaning the Yard and Maintenance You will be required also to do locomotive cleaning (interior and exterior) You must be able to work outdoors. You will also need to do Aerial Work Platform   The positions are permanent 40 hours per week and the work schedule may vary (day, evening, night, week-end and holidays).   WE OFFER:

  • Salary: $31.86 /hour

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week)

  • Evening, night bonuses

  • Uniform and safety equipment provided   This position could open the way to other railway maintenance professions.  

  • Possess a High School Diploma

  • Professional or technical diploma in: Mechanics, Tinning, Pipe fitting or Welding (asset)

  • Have forklift experience and Licence (an asset )

  • Be flexible regarding work schedules

  • Possess the physical capacity to do the job

  • Be quality and results oriented

  • Able to work in a team

  • Capable of lifting weights ranging up to 23kg (50 lb)

  • Possess mechanical aptitudes

  • Valid driver's license (G)   SCHEDULE:

  • Primarily night shifts (8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.)     OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Meet the physical requirements of the position (medical assessment to be completed before the final hiring stage)

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
