The Opportunity The Claims Analyst holds a high level of responsibility, performing a range of functions for the Claims department with respect to reinsurance exposure management of member segment casualty, automobile and property claims, as well as acting as liaison between the member companies and the reinsurance intermediary. In this role, the successful candidate will have a principal focus in automobile bodily injury and general liability casualty claims. Further responsibilities may also include oversight of cedant’s claims within our broker distribution channel.
The job is hybrid and may involve travel, particularly for member and cedent visits and audits.
As The Successful Candidate, You Will
- Examine, record, and report on new claims information, assess exposure, calculate claim reserves, and prepare claim summary details on reportable inward and outward reinsurance claims
- Examine, monitor, prepare, and evaluate correspondence and information received on claims from, member companies, reinsurers and broker channel cedants
- Calculate, compile, assess, and adjust claim reserves, and request status reports on claim activity
- Review and verify claims submitted are in accordance with Reinsurance contractual agreements and approve claim payments
- Review reinsurance contracts and agreements to understand the terms, conditions, and obligations related to claim payments and recoveries
- Liaise with reinsurance brokers, member companies and broker channel cedants to obtain information and ensure communication and resolution of all claim issues
- Conduct claim file reviews to identify trends and areas of opportunity
- Prepare and generate reports on claims status, claims trends, and financial impact for management and other interested parties
Your Skills And Qualifications
- Solid technical knowledge with 5+ years of prior related experience managing automobile bodily injury and general liability casualty claims
- Experience managing property and property catastrophe related claims is an asset
- Previous claims knowledge and experience with reinsurance contracts and programs is an asset
- A college diploma or an equivalent level of education is required
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is an asset
- Excellent communications skills both written and oral
- Exceptional attention to detail
- The ability to provide exceptional customer service and build relationships
- The ability to problem solve, compare data, and input from a variety of sources, identify trends, and appropriate conclusions
- An active team player who proactively collaborates with others
This posting represents a current, existing vacancy within our organization.
Compensation The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $115,000.
The actual salary will be determined based on factors including but not limited to, market conditions, relevant experience, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, qualifications, and education.
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs to earn additional compensation. Incentive compensation is tied to established business and individual performance targets.
