Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides instruction, guidance and leadership to employees by assisting in solving day to day problems, utilizing the Magna Employee Charter while implementing the policies and procedures of the company.
  • Plans and directs the maintenance and use of all machinery, equipment and manpower to achieve the most effective results.
  • Responsible and accountable for meeting MDV and departmental objectives including champion standard work and 5S in maintenance area.
  • Responsible for effective Preventative Maintenance Planning for machines and equipment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Coaching and counselling employees to performance standards to ensure department quality performance and department delivery performance is to standard.
  • Effective use of MDV’s escalation process.
  • Supervises an average of 5 – 30 employees in accordance with the principles of the Magna Employee Charter and the policies and procedures set out in the MDV Stamping Handbook.
  • Ensures department meets or exceeds MDV/Cosma standards as prescribed. Provide input to the business planning process as it relates to the goals and objectives in the Department.
  • Conducts performance evaluations, disciplinary action, temporary employee orientation and daily completion of temporary tracker to established deadlines.
  • Responsible for monitoring employee hours of work and accurately updating EZ Labour system.
  • Ensure the maintenance department is kept clean, tidy and in safe working condition at all times.
  • Enforces / complies with all Federal/Provincial Regulations including standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as Policies and Procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Champions participation in Continuous Improvement / Suggestion Programs to drive improvement.
  • Attends / ensures employees attend all scheduled training/meetings and or train employees, bringing forward any questions at that time or to his/her Supervisor/Designee as well as keep records of such training.
  • Perform other assignments as requested by management from time to time as well as making Supervisor/Designee aware of problems/slowdown in work area so can be assigned further duties to team member or self.
  • Other Tasks:
  • Continuously adhere to and apply the Magna Employee’s Charter, the Magna Corporate Constitution, and the Magna Operational Principles and MaFact in all aspects of position and interaction with others.
  • Effective use of MDV’s Escalation Process.
  • Compliance to IATF customer requirements
  • Attends all scheduled meetings and training.
  • Conducts performance evaluations, disciplinary action, temporary employee orientation and daily completion of temporary tracker to established deadlines.
  • Enforces and complies with all Federal/Provincial Regulations including all internal safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employee Handbook and related internal systems.
  • Understands and follows established rules, procedures and policies relating to position.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties that may be assigned.

  • Applies extensive knowledge of machinery and production cycles while fulfilling duties and responsibilities
  • Possesses exceptional problem solving skills, used for troubleshooting machinery and equipment

Education/Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 -5 years in progressive leadership position
  • C of Q Certificate with solid electrical, mechanical and programming knowledge
  • PLC knowledge and documentation skills
  • Knowledge of operating principles of all mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience with power tools and mechanic tools
  • General knowledge of inspection equipment, steels and lubricants
  • General fork lift experience
  • Aware of all safety requirements on cells and presses
  • Knowledge of weld controllers/robots/PLC
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment which includes stamping and assembly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Good command of the English language both verbal, written and the ability to communicate to the customer.
