The Clerk III position performs a broad range of clerical and administrative functions in support of the Department of Justice and Public Safety – Adult Custody Division. Reporting directly to the Manager of Financial Operations, this position is responsible for coordinating and delivering daily front desk operations within a correctional facility setting. The role serves as a key point of contact for staff, members of the public, and external stakeholders, requiring the provision of accurate information and effective client service in a high-volume environment.
Duties for the position include: Responds to inquiries, assists staff, and maintains office supplies. Reads incoming mail and distributes it according to established policies and procedures. Provides frontline counter service in support of Adult Custody to members of the public and depositing funds into client accounts. Prepares a variety of correspondence, including letters, memos, and related documentation. Prepares account postings and records and disburses cash. Records and secures inmate property and arranges for its release upon request. Prepares documentation and administers inmate transfers and releases.
Screening Criteria
- Diploma in Office Administration (equivalencies will be considered)
- Office Administration experience
- Experience with Front-line service
- Experience using Microsoft office applications
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of office administration practices
- Knowledge of Microsoft office applications
- Front line service to the public
- Stress tolerance
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Ability to manage time and tasks
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Reliability
- Professionalism
