About the role
Position Overview
The Rehab Aide is responsible for assisting with direct and indirect patient care activities and non-patient activities that are delegated and directed by the Therapist or the Manager. The Aide is responsible for departmental duties such as portering, preparing equipment, maintaining treatment areas, equipment and supplies.
Experience
- Experience in a rehabilitation department preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Recognized Rehabilitation Aide certificate required.
- Consideration may be given to individuals in the process of attaining an academic degree in Physiotherapy (PT) or Occupational Therapy (OT) as well as to foreign trained graduates of OT or PT.
Qualifications and Skills
- Good interpersonal, organizational and both oral and written communication skills essential.
- Courteous and cooperative attitude.
- Ability to work independently within their area of responsibility.
- Ability to accept change on an ongoing basis.
- Demonstrates use of proper body mechanics and transfer techniques.
- Discreet and confidential in all hospital/patient/resident related matters.
Physical Requirements
- May be required to work extended hours.
- May involve exposure to disease, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, etc.
- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
