Overview:
Pembina has an exciting new opportunity open in the Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) team, Supervisor, Asset Lifecycle Management. This position reports to the Manager of Asset Lifecycle Management in the Technical Services Unit (TSU), part of Pembina’s Corporate Services division. On behalf of Pembina’s Business Units, TSU manages a comprehensive integrity management program, which includes Facility Integrity, Pipeline Integrity, Geotechnical, Corrosion Control, Asset Lifecycle Management, Product Quality and Measurement, Geographical Information System, Integrity Project Execution, and Automation Services. TSU provides leading technical expertise that optimizes performance and minimizes operational and project risk.
The Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) team provides leading technical expertise that optimizes performance and minimizes operational and project risk. The ALM team owns and oversees Pembina’s technical specifications and standards, ensuring that they are current and compliant with regulatory requirements, aligned with industry best practices and fit for purpose. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance are maintained in our technical specifications and standards working with our individual Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
Additionally, the ALM team provides Engineering technical support to projects and operations, covering an exceptionally broad set of disciplines such as rotating equipment/turbomachinery, reliability, pipeline and piping engineering, welding engineering, and electrical engineering.

The primary focus for this Supervisor position is to oversee and steward Pembina’s corporate specifications and standards, the work processes and the systems associated with them. Currently, the position has four direct reports with potential for change.
Leadership/Business Acumen/Strategy

- Ensure that quality and safety incidents are responded to and managed in a timely manner, escalating where necessary and that investigations are conducted to ensure learnings are recognized and implemented;
- Contribute to a team environment that values inclusion and diversity, as well as support Pembina’s ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) objectives;
- Be an active member of the ALM leadership team, supporting goal and budget development, management decisions and operational excellence in service of Pembina’s strategic priorities and values: Safe, Trustworthy, Respectful Collaborative, Entrepreneurial;
- Provide leadership and development to the assigned SMEs ensuring they receive effective guidance, coordination and mentorship;
- Conduct annual performance reviews for all direct reports;
- Ensure that all mandatory training requirements are met and consistently applied across all direct reports;
- Maintain a culture in support of Continuous Improvement;
- Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace; and
- Achieve a high-quality working relationship with key stakeholders, particularly the various operating Business Units.
Duties/Accountabilities/Responsibilities

- Play a key role in guiding the evolution and governance of Pembina’s technical specification and standards, working with the SMEs to ensure that these critical documents are designed to meet or exceed all applicable environmental and regulatory requirements, industry best practices and are fit-for-purpose;
- Ensure that all specifications and standards are maintained in accordance with their specified review cycles;
- Ensure that all functional teams who rely on specifications and standards are updated and aware of all changes associated with these critical document;
- Oversee the development with the identified SME (both internal and external to Pembina) and cross-functional teams of any new specifications and standards;
- Ownership and management of all workflows, processes and systems associated with developing and updating specifications and standards and for deviating from existing specification and standard requirements;
- Work in collaboration with the key stakeholders in other departments to identify improvement opportunities, and help optimize our specifications and standards;
- Develop goals that include KPIs for measuring and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of our ALM processes;
- Provide fiscal oversight through effective use of Pembina business systems, processes and KPIs in support of cost-effective management of our specifications and standards program;
- Support the use of the MOC process where appropriate to manage changes to work management processes and tool;
- Drive and support operational excellence initiatives and projects in pursuit of establishing the “Pembina Way of operating; and
- Model and promote learning agility by adapting quickly to change, encouraging experimentation, and continuously integrating new insights into team strategies and practices.
Qualifications:

- Engineer or engineering technologist certification, with relevant industry experience.
- 10+ years of related leadership or management experience in engineering and specification leadership within a heavy industrial environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and team building skills, and able to function effectively in a high pressure, fast paced environment.
- Proven ability to lead others in a manner that empowers, develops and rewards for innovation.
- Strong working knowledge of specification and standard processes and associated systems, e.g. SharePoint and SAP.
- Demonstrated business acumen, creativity and innovation in the delivery of services that directly impact achievement of business objectives in addressing customer requests, opportunities and concerns in a mutually beneficial manner.
- A commitment to continuous leadership development, results oriented, with excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, and leads to change with an open mind and in a positive manner.
- Good understanding of jurisdictional regulatory frameworks as they apply to corporate standards and specifications.
- Understanding of how standards will influence Pembina’s current and future efforts to achieve fit-for-purpose asset lifecycle management.
- Highly analytical, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to self-development, a self-motivator and initiator of new ideas, who can respond to changing priorities.
- Fostering an environment of inclusion and diversity that continues to contribute towards values of team and collaboration.
