City of Armstrong Water Wastewater Operator
Position Summary
The City of Armstrong is seeking a qualified individual to join our team in the position of Water Wastewater Operator II.
Reporting to the Manager of Operations, or designate, the position performs a variety of skilled technical work including monitoring, maintenance, repair, operational and laboratory work on the Water and Wastewater infrastructure of the City. The areas of operation include, but are not limited to, sewage treatment facility, effluent storage and withdrawal facilities, spray irrigation facilities, pump stations, lift stations, water intake, groundwater wells, water treatment plant, reservoir facilities, distribution systems and all related infrastructure. The position will also act as the Certified Operator in Charge (COC) and Direct Responsible Charge (DRC).
Qualifications
A valid BC Level 2 Operators Certificate for Water Treatment, Water Distribution and Wastewater Treatment is required. A minimum grade 12 high school is required. A valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence with air endorsement is required. The successful applicant will provide the City with a drivers abstract and Police Information Check prior to the commencement of work. A valid BC Level 2 Operators Certificate for Wastewater Collection and Dam Inspection and Maintenance Certification is considered an asset.
Additional Information
This is a union position, and relevant provisions of the CUPE Local 2709 Collective Agreement pertain. The normal workday/workweek consists of a scheduled period of eight (8) hours of work between the hours of 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday inclusive. The hourly wage is in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement of $45.17 (2025 Rate) per hour.
